The overall CMIT experience is why we are re-enrolling our son. Specifically, we have been impressed with the responsiveness and openness of the Administration and Staff, the challenging curriculum, exposure to advanced use of technology, the active and dedicated PTO and the “family” environment that has been created. Zion has learned so much more being at CMIT, the curriculum is a challenge for him, which is what he needed, he enjoys the multi-cultures and making new friends, but most of all he enjoys that he’s learning at a higher level and being prepared for college.

Although the first two quartesemester has been challenging, it has also been good. The teachers are very supportive and I am especially pleased with the principal’s personal interest in the success of my child. I feel that there is a true partnership between the school and home. We are focused to successfully continue this school View Full →

I would like to re-enroll my son in CMIT again because I really like the school and the standards and goals they set for the students.

My name is Katie Amos (kamos@cmitsouth.org)and I am the Professional School Counselor at Chesapeake Math and IT South Public Charter School.

Here’s a quick sneak peek of my life…

I moved quite a bit growing up,  but ultimately call Hanover, Pennsylvania my home. I didn’t really know what I wanted to be when I was in high school, but I went on a few college visits during my junior and senior year, and before I knew it I was attending West Chester University.

At WCU I participated in a field experience where I worked with at-risk youth in West Philadelphia. It was during that experience that I knew School Counseling was my calling. I graduated from West Chester University with a B.A in Psychology and a Minor in Spanish.

I then went on to pursue my Master’s Degree at Messiah College. I earned my M.A in School Counseling in 2017.

My School Counseling journey has led me to Upper Marlboro, MD to serve the students, parents, and community at CMIT-South.

Outside of my school counselor life, I enjoy being outdoors, snuggling my cats, and spending time with my family.
