I like the curriculum and the support available to the students especially the advanced math program. This has helped my child to improve his math skills.

My child loves the school even though he’s been having a hard time with adjusting. He loves IT and will excel if he gets to do what he is suppose to do. He really is looking forward to go to the new school site.

My experience thus far has been a good experience. I like that this school only houses two grade levels, the children have the opportunity to go on fields trip, and the curriculum is engaging. I would like to re-enroll Camrynn because I can see her improvement she has made in many of her subjects. She actually now enjoys Math. I like that she learning particularly Technology. She has been able to strengthen my skills as well as others in our family.

I am still excited that my daughter attends CMIT South. The curriculum has open up several new avenues of learning as well as challenged by daughter to improve herself as a good student. I am also pleased with the PTO and strong engagement between Chesapeake Lighthouse foundation, CMIT teachers, staff, and CMIT parents. Lastly, Principal View Full →

My name is Katie Amos (kamos@cmitsouth.org)and I am the Professional School Counselor at Chesapeake Math and IT South Public Charter School.

Here’s a quick sneak peek of my life…

I moved quite a bit growing up,  but ultimately call Hanover, Pennsylvania my home. I didn’t really know what I wanted to be when I was in high school, but I went on a few college visits during my junior and senior year, and before I knew it I was attending West Chester University.

At WCU I participated in a field experience where I worked with at-risk youth in West Philadelphia. It was during that experience that I knew School Counseling was my calling. I graduated from West Chester University with a B.A in Psychology and a Minor in Spanish.

I then went on to pursue my Master’s Degree at Messiah College. I earned my M.A in School Counseling in 2017.

My School Counseling journey has led me to Upper Marlboro, MD to serve the students, parents, and community at CMIT-South.

Outside of my school counselor life, I enjoy being outdoors, snuggling my cats, and spending time with my family.
