Although the first two quartesemester has been challenging, it has also been good. The teachers are very supportive and I am especially pleased with the principal’s personal interest in the success of my child. I feel that there is a true partnership between the school and home. I am re enrolling my son at CMIT because I have been very happy with the school. The structure and class sizes are small and I feel that my son needs this.

Overall my daughter is happy and I think she is receiving a good educational experience. She appears to be growing in her independence and technical skills. I believe CMIT-South has her on the road to college. I would like to see more consideration for school life balance as it relates to the volume of homework.

What is CMIT Stem Fair?

It is a school-wide STEM Fair that includes the topics related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It is required for all CMIT students. All of your teachers will be involved in supporting you and parts of your project will be evaluated in multiple subject areas. This means a good project will make a difference in your report card without additional effort. STEM Fair category winners (first, second and third place) will be awarded Kindle Fire HDs, Kindle Paperwhites etc. The overall STEM Fair winners (first, second and third place) will receive iPad, laptop or Kindle Fire HD. Eligible projects will represent CMIT in the 66th Annual Prince George’s Area Science Fair (in March) and other national STEM Fairs.

What is the process and what should the end product look like?

  1.  You select the topic.

  2.  Focus on a question/problem on your topic.

  3.  Use Scientific Method.

  4.  Do your research/investigation/experiment/observations.

  5.  Collect Data

  6.  Present Your Data with a research paper and a poster board
